Anthony Greenbank

Anthony Greenbank is a name known to many who have collected annuals as his features and stories have appeared in Eagle and Boys Own Paper, Eagle AnnualGirl Annual, Boys' World Annual and Daily Mirror Book for Boys amongst others. Many of his stories have been about climbing, hiking and outdoor activities which is a subject he has been an expert on for many years. According to one source, Greenbank has climbed some of the world's tallest peaks, has fought forest fires and lived through harrowing motorcycle crashes.

Anthony Hunt Greenbank  was born in Settle, Yorkshire, on 21 December 1933, the son of Anthony and Marjorie Greenbank. He was educated at schools in Yorkshire and served his National Service in the R.A.F. in 1952-54. He worked as a Chartered Librarian in Newcastle School of Librarianship, 1955-57, and been an instructor on outward bound courses in Cumberland in 1959-60 and Marble, Colorado, in 1964.

Tony Greenbank has more recently contributed to Cumbria Magazine, Whitehaven News and pens a 'Country Diary' feature for The Guardian.
